INTRODUCTION

Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) is a strong, highly corrosive mineral acid supplied as an aqueous solution. It is a fundamental chemical agent indispensable in various industrial processes, with its primary role in water treatment revolving around pH adjustment and chemical cleaning. Our Industrial Grade HCl is manufactured to maintain the purity required for efficient and reliable operation within demanding water and process facilities.

PRIMARY APPLICATIONS IN WATER TREATMENT

• pH Correction and Alkalinity Reduction: HCl is widely used to lower the pH level of process water, boiler feed water, or effluent streams. Maintaining the correct acidic pH range is crucial for optimal performance of coagulation, flocculation, and disinfection processes.
• Ion Exchange Resin Regeneration: It is the standard chemical used for regenerating cation exchange resins in water demineralization plants. The acid effectively strips accumulated calcium, magnesium, and other metallic ions from the resin beads, restoring their ion exchange capacity.
• Scale and Deposit Removal (Acid Cleaning/Pickling): Due to its strong corrosive properties, HCl is the chemical of choice for dissolving and removing mineral deposits, rust, and scale (primarily calcium carbonate scale) from industrial equipment such as boilers, heat exchangers, cooling towers, and pipelines.
• Neutralization: Used in effluent treatment to neutralize basic (alkaline) waste streams before discharge.

  HANDLING, STORAGE, AND SAFETY

  Hydrochloric Acid is a highly hazardous material and must be handled with extreme caution.

  • Storage: Must be stored in HDPE or FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) tanks, away from direct sunlight, heat, oxidizing agents, and alkaline substances. Storage areas must be cool, well-ventilated, and secured.
  • Handling: Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including acid-resistant gloves, full-face shields, and protective clothing. Always add acid to water, slowly, and never water to acid, to prevent dangerous exothermic reactions and splashing.
  • Disposal: Spent acid solutions must be neutralized to an appropriate pH level before disposal according to local environmental regulations.
