Restore your system’s flow and efficiency with our RO Descaling Acidic Blend. This industrial-strength concentrate is engineered to tackle the toughest inorganic scaling and metal deposits that accumulate on Reverse Osmosis membranes over time.
This is a concentrated acidic cleaning solution designed to remove heavy inorganic scaling and metal deposits from RO membranes. It works by lowering the pH of the cleaning solution to break down the bond between the scale and the membrane surface.
Superior Scale Dissolution: The combination of HCl and Citric Acid is much more aggressive against stubborn Calcium and Magnesium scales than Citric Acid alone.
Metal Ion Removal: The addition of EDTA is excellent for removing Iron (rust) staining and Manganese deposits that cause membrane fouling.
Effective Cleaning: It restores the flow rate (flux) and improves the salt rejection of the membranes by clearing the “pores.”
DM Water Base: Since it is made with DM (Demineralized) water, the chemical itself doesn’t introduce any new minerals into the system during the cleaning process.
Note: Cleaning should be done when the flow rate drops by 10-15% or the pressure increases.
Preparation: Fill the CIP tank with RO permeate water.
Dilution: Add the Descaling chemical to the tank. (Typical concentration is 2-5% solution, but always check the specific gravity).
Recirculation: Pump the solution through the RO membranes at low pressure.
Phase 1: Circulate for 30–60 minutes.
Phase 2: Let it soak for 30 minutes (for heavy scaling).
Phase 3: Final circulation for another 30 minutes.
Monitoring: Keep checking the pH. If the pH rises above 3.0, the acid is “spent” (used up), and you may need to add a little more chemical.
Flushing: Once finished, flush the system thoroughly with RO water until the pH of the outlet water matches the inlet water.
Highly Corrosive: Because it contains HCl, this chemical is very aggressive. It can damage skin, eyes, and metal parts of the RO skid (like SS316 if left for too long).
Membrane Sensitivity: You must ensure the pH does not drop below the membrane’s tolerance (usually pH 2). If the pH is too low for too long, it can damage the membrane’s thin-film layer.
Fumes: HCl can release acidic fumes which are irritating to the lungs. Always use it in a well-ventilated area.
Not for Organic Fouling: This acidic cleaner will not remove oil, grease, or biological slime. For that, you would need an Alkaline cleaner (High pH) after this acidic wash.
Keep the container tightly closed away from direct heat and sunlight. Wear rubber gloves goggles and shoes when handling. Do not get in eyes on skin or on clothing. In case of contact wash with plenty of fresh cold water if necessary seek medical attention.
